Thames Valley Methodist Circuit
Magna Carta River Relay 2015
Monday, 15th June 2015 was the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta at Runnymede. As part of the celebrations, a flotilla rowed down the river Thames, led by the Queen’s Rowbarge, Gloriana, from Bisham Abbey to Runnymede on the weekend of 13th and 14th June.
This included rowing right through the Thames Valley Circuit from North-West to South-East. Over half of its 12 churches are within one mile of the Thames, with the one furthest away around 2½ miles. The pictures in this gallery were taken by members of the circuit on Day 2 as the flotilla rowed from Oakley Court, Bray, to Runnymede.
This gallery is intended as a fitting tribute from this circuit which has, at Old Windsor, a Methodist Church just a mile away from where Magna Carta — renowned worldwide as a symbol of democracy, justice, human rights and the rule of law — was signed.
